Calmechanic.com: what it is and is intended to be used for.

Calmechanic.com was born with the purpose of providing users a method of organizing job information (mostly for freelancers in the television business, for now) but can apply to other industries as well. Information related to the users jobs or projects such as dates and times, job numbers, customers, and location; to be stored and referenced easily. Such pieces of information, although small; are still very important for the purposes of submitting expenses or invoices for the work completed. Calmechanic.com is also built to help users to gather and organize receipt information and match up these expendetures with the proper dates and jobs they are related to. Unlike other expense apps or tools, this application aims to fulfill the functions similar to what a personal assistant might be hired to do. For example; if the user takes a taxi ride to the airport the day before a job, the application runs a set of automation functions that gathers that expense, and notes the date it was sent. It compares to the current date, and a day before or after the expense. It then pairs the job data to the expense and stores all the matching expense details in a format that is easily exported for that users needs. Thus, eliminating the steps often required to look that information up when it is time to submit the expense. As time passes, many of these expenses accumulate and get messy. With Calmechanic, it takes the work out of matching these expenses up with the proper job details.

As calmechanic.com stores the basic details about the jobs, (presently) it only displays this data in a list format. As an option, users can choose to sync these items to their Google calendar account.

Google calendar use and permissions

Users who choose to sync their events to Google calendar can do so by entering their Google ID, and optionally their chosen calendar name. We will not ask for your password, nor will we store your google password in any form. All authorization with Google will be handled by a one-time authorization screen prompting you to allow calmechanic.com to view, modify or delete calendar information on your Google account. If a calendar name is not entered, it will use their primary calendar under the users account. Calmechanic.com will then store a token.json file securely on the server, and only utilize this authorized token to add/modify or delete these events stored on calmechanic.com. At any time a user wishes to revoke and disable the sync features, simply uncheck the choice in the user detail page on calmechanic.com and it will be removed.

While the feature is chosen and enabled on calmechanic.com, it will synchronize automatically 2 (two) times a day every single day. By using the stored information, combined with each event ID unique to each event, it will be able to make these events visible and seamless between calmechanic.com and google calendar. The intent will also be to sync back any changes from Google calendar, if that existing event is modified in any way. If this item is deleted on Google calendar, it will gracefully remove the event on calmechanic.com as well.

It is the intent of us at calmechanic.com to keep this process transparent, simple and limited in scope. We do not wish to store any sensetive data, passwords, or other account specific information of our users. We will not share or sell any of this data to anyone, for any reason, ever. We simply wish to create a basic service to simplify the organization of users specific job details, display it on Google calendar if selected, and keep the information up to date with minimal input from the users directly.

Calendar Mechanic follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and a part of hosting services' analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.
